Hi All,

As you may know, Thursday evening was an exceptionally exciting experience for Odyssey Music & Drama.  At the Rochester Broadway Theatre League’s Stars of Tomorrow Gala, the talents of our students were on display and did they shine!

Performing in the exuberantly high-energy Opening Medley were Medley Singer/Dancers Abby Heckman, Erynn Hill, and Nick Wawrzaszek.  They were joined by Medley Singers Ian Cannioto and Tessa Spencer.

Early in the First Act, forty-two of our cast members performed a medley from The Sound of Music which was greeted by an enthusiast roar from the audience.

Following the performance, Recognition Awards were presented to high scoring school productions in each of the four divisions.  Odyssey Music & Drama’s production of The Sound of Music received Outstanding Recognition in all available ensemble categories in Division B, which were:

Outstanding Musical Production

Outstanding Dance Ensemble

Outstanding Acting Ensemble

Outstanding Singing Ensemble

Outstanding Production Crew

Outstanding Student Orchestra

Further, several individual student performances were recognized for excellence in the following Division B categories:

Outstanding Leading Actor: Alec Eddy as “Rolf Gruber”

Outstanding Leading Actor: Maxwell Flores as “Max Detweiler”

Outstanding Leading Actress: Leah Anderson as “Elsa Schraeder”

Outstanding Supporting Actress: Abigail Heckman as “Liesl von Trapp”

In addition, the following students were recognized for excellence:

“Tip of the Hat” Recognition of Individual Performers (by the RBLT Adjudicators)

 Rebekah Benson – Oboe/English Horn

Triston Wise as “Kurt von Trapp”

The Nuns’ Singing Ensemble

“Tip of the Hat” Recognition of Individual Performers (by their Directors)

Halie Geer as “Sister Berthe”

TJ Cappiello as “Franz the Butler / Student Director”

Haley Poth as Student Production Director

Special Recognition (students recognized by their Directors for going above and beyond in the production of their musical)

Rebekah Benson (Oboe/English horn)

Samantha Learn (Student Costume Coordinator)

Future Stars of Tomorrow (Elementary or Middle School students recognized by their Directors for Outstanding Individual Performances in their high school musical)

Aidan Eddy, Triston Wise, Samantha Fiannaca, Emmeline Hutton, Briana Kalpin, Taylor Spriggs,
Olivia Donahue, Rory Miles as the von Trapp family children.

In all, it was a wonderful evening celebrating a very memorable musical theatre production.  Congratulations to everyone involved in making this experience possible for our students!
