Those selected for leading male and female roles at Stars of Tomorrow have the opportunity to return to the Auditorium Theatre stage on May 24, 2012 to compete in the Stars of Tomorrow NYC Bound for a chance to represent Rochester in the fourth annual National High School Musical Theatre Awards (NHSMTA) in NYC in June.

Odyssey Music & Drama's production of The Wedding Singer has been honored by the Rochester Broadway Theatre League's Stars of Tomorrow at its 14th Annual Recognition Ceremony. The gala presentation was held on May 3rd at the Auditorium Center with a capacity audience of 2400 students, families, and educators. Odyssey Music & Drama students performed the Finale from The Wedding Singer at the ceremony, and our production was recognized for excellence in the following categories:

Outstanding Musical Production

Outstanding Acting Ensemble

Outstanding Singing Ensemble

Outstanding Dance Ensemble

Outstanding Student Orchestra

Outstanding Leading Actor: Austin Matson as Robbie Hart

Special Recognition: Kevin Hauser as George

Rising Star of Tomorrow: Leah Anderson as Holly

A Tip of the Hat - Special Recognition from the SOT Judges to
Stage Manager Nicole Bubie and to Kevin Hauser as George

The Stars of Tomorrow program is sponsored by the Rochester Broadway Theatre League, with the goal of supporting musical theatre programs in the greater Rochester area. This year, 36 schools chose to participate in the program in four divisions, ranked by school size. Odyssey Academy is in Division C (medium small high schools). Each production is critiqued by a panel of judges in 10 areas of ensemble and individual performance. The four students/schools from each division were recognized for excellence in each of the 10 categories. In addition, each participating school was encouraged to perform a selection from their individual show at the gala ceremony.

Having been recognized as Outstanding Leading Actor, Austin Matson is eligible to compete on May 24th to represent Rochester at the fourth annual National High School Music Theatre Awards (NHSMTA) competition, held in late June in New York City.

Congratulations to everyone involved in The Wedding Singer
and thanks for all of your hard work!
